OLATHE, Kan. - A scoreless first half turned into a slugfest in MNU's 4-2 victory over Missouri Valley on Wednesday. The Vikings out-shot the Pioneers 13-3 in the first half, but neither team found the net. In the second half in the 54th minute,
Alyssa Ward scored on a feed from
Brylee Johnson, and the floodgates opened. Not 11 minutes would pass between goals for the rest of the game. Bussmann converted a PK in the 62nd minute, Valley cut the deficit in half in the 69th minute,
Morgan Hill scored from a
Brylee Johnson assist in the 79th minute, Valley cut into the lead with a goal in the 85th minute, and
Itziar Rodriguez collected a deflected crossbar shot from
Gracyn Kloth to put the game away in the 90th minute.
"It was a game of two halves," said head coach
Bryce McClanahan. "In the first half, we were very poor individually and collectively and could not find a rhythm. One of the few positives was we were able to escape the half with a clean sheet. The second half was miles better. Our possession out of the back, and combination play allowed us to create chances and be on the front foot. Valley is a tough opponent and we're excited to get the win at home and be moving forward 1-0 in the Heart."

The Pioneers scored twice early in the 2nd half to take control.
Individual Leaders
