PLAINVIEW, Texas - MNU started the 2020 season with a 4-game split at Wayland Baptist over the weekend. In
Game 1, MNU scored twice in the 1st inning but trailed 4-2 after 2. In the top of the 4th,
Ryan Leo's 2-RBI single tied the game, and MNU blew it open in the 5th. With 2 outs and nobody on,
Will Morris singled and
Jackson Berck reached on an error to score Morris. After a walk,
Joshuan Sandoval drilled a 3-run homer and Leo followed with a solo shot to put MNU up 9-4. Wayland scored twice in the 5th and once in the 6th, but MNU held on to win 9-7.
Game 1 Turning Point

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Kyle Waller pitched 4 innings and struck out 4 for the win.
Jhon Vargas earned a 3-inning save with 5 Ks. And
Joshuan Sandoval (2-3, R, HR, 3 RBI, BB, HBP) and
Ryan Leo (3-4, R, 2B, HR, 4 RBI, SB) combined for 7 RBIs.
In
Game 2, WBU exploded for 7 runs in the bottom of the 4th and went on to win 11-5.

In
Game 3, Joshuan Sandoval's 3rd homer of the series - a 2-run shot - gave MNU a 1st-inning lead, and a
Jackson Berck solo shot in the 3rd made it 3-0. Wayland tied it with a 3-run 3rd, and each team scored 1 in the 4th. Tied at 4 in the top of the 7th, Berck singled home the go-ahead run with 2 outs, and MNU held on to win 5-4.
Game 3 Turning Point
Jackson Berck's 7th-inning RBI single proved to be the game-winner.
Game 3 Individual Leaders
Connor Jonas earned the win with 3 hitless innings of relief. And
Jackson Berck (2-3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, BB),
Joshuan Sandoval (1-3, R, HR, 2 RBI, HBP), and
Austin Healy (1-2, RBI, Sac) drove in MNU's 5 runs.
In
Game 4, MNU jumped all over Wayland with 2 in the 1st and 6 in the 2nd - highlighted by a
Kyle Waller 2-run homer - but the 8-1 lead would not last long. Wayland rallied for 7 in the bottom of the 2nd to tie the game, and the game was one-sided after that. MNU didn't score again, and Wayland added 2 in the 3rd, hit 3 straight homers in the 4th, and added another in the 5th to win 14-8.
Game 4 Turning Point
Wayland's 7-run 2nd turned the game around.
Game 4 Individual Leaders
Nick Michael brought some calm to the game with 2.2 innings of 1-run ball with 2 Ks. And
Will Morris (2-4, R, 2B),
Randy Fernandez (1-3, 2 R, RBI, BB, SB),
Kyle Waller (3-4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI),
Ryan Leo (3-4, R, 2 RBI, SB),
