Pioneers Go 1-2 at #10 OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - MNU went 1-2 at #10 Oklahoma City over the weekend. In Game 1, OCU jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 2 innings, but the Pioneers started to come back in the 5th. MNU loaded the bases with 1 out, and Will Morris drove in 1 with a single, and Jackson Berck followed with a sac fly. A steal of home on a 1st & 3rd play got MNU closer, and they went to the 7th inning trailing by 1. The final inning was tense but ugly. MNU tied the game thanks to 4 walks, then took the lead on an error. In the bottom of the inning, the Stars recorded back to back singles to open the inning, and a flyout and a walk loaded the bases. A wild pitch tied the game, and 2 more walks ended it.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Will Morris (1-3, RBI, BB), Jackson Berck (1-2, 2 RBI, BB, SF), Ryan Leo (1-3), Randy Fernandez (2-2, 2 R, BB), and Austin Healy (1-2, 2 R, HBP) had MNU's 6 hits.

In Game 2, MNU exploded in the top of the 2nd, and Easten Garrett dominated the #10 team in the country. Kyle Franklin doubled to lead off the 2nd, and he scored on a sac fly for the 2nd out. Back to back walks preceded a Jackson Berck RBI single and Kyle Waller double for a 4-0 lead. Joshuan Sandoval and Ryan Leo capped the 7-run inning with back to back homers to blow it open. Leo homered again in the top of the 7th for an 8-1 lead. Garrett allowed a single run in the bottom of the 3rd, but otherwise cruised for a complete game victory with 8 strikeouts.

MNU's 7-run 2nd was plenty.

Game 2 Individual Leaders
Easten Garrett sruck out 8 in a complete game 3-hit victory. And Kyle Waller (2-4, R, 2B, 2 RBI), Joshuan Sandoval (2-4, R, HR, 2 RBI), and Ryan Leo (2-4, 2 R, 2 HR, 2 RBI) had 2 hits and 2 RBIs apiece.

In Game 3 (scheduled for 9 innings), MNU led 2-1 after the 2nd inning, but the Stars ran away with the game. They scored 4 in the 3rd, 3 in the 5th and 6th, and 1 in the 7th to win via the 10-run rule.
