OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers opened the season with an 85-58 victory over Kansas Christian in the Jeff Uphaus Memorial Classic on Monday. KCC scored the first 4 points of the game, but the Pioneers exploded for a 21-2 run over 6 minutes to open up a big lead. The advantage grew to 17 at halftime, and ballooned to 34 before it was over as MNU cruised to victory.

MNU's 21-2 run in the opening minutes overwhelmed the Falcons.

Anthony Brown led all scorers with 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 steals. Pedro Lopes shot 6-9 for 15 points off the bench. Blake Spellman tallied 13 points, 8 assists, and 5 rebounds. Patrick Cairns had 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks. And Trey Brown added 7 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.
