The Basics
Score: MNU 14 - Benedictine 43
Record: MNU (1-4, 1-1 South), BC (6-1, 3-0 South)
Location: ODAC - Olathe, Kan.

OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers started strong but fell in the second half to Benedictine on Saturday. MNU took the opening kickoff and went 75 yards in 13 plays, capped by a 3-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Tanis, to take a 7-0 lead. The ensuing kickoff got caught up in the wind, and the Pioneers recovered the accidental onside kick. Four plays later, they were in the end zone again for a 14-0 lead before the Raven offense saw the field. Benedictine drove all the way to the 2-yard line before the Pioneers stopped them on 4th down. After MNU fumbled, the Pioneer defense got another stop on a missed field goal, but the Ravens started their comeback on their next drive.

Benedictine was in MNU territory when a pass was deflected into the waiting arms of a receiver for a touchdown. The 14-7 score took the teams to the locker room, and the Ravens dominated the rest of the way. A quick 70-yard touchdown tied the game, and Benedictine put up 29 more points to win 43-14.

"Our guys played and competed versus a really good Benedictine team," said head coach Paul Hansen. "In the end, we didn't make the plays that we needed to make. We will regroup and get ready for a traditionally good Missouri Valley team."

Turning Point
MNU led 14-0 and an errant Benedictine pass went not for an interception, but for a deflection and touchdown late in the first half.
