Pioneers Come Back to Beat Culver

OLATHE, Kan. - MNU scored 3 second-half goals to win a home match vs. Culver-Stockton on Saturday. The Wildcats earned several corner kicks in the first half and finally got on the board when a corner found a head and the back of the net. In the second half, the Pioneers dominated possession and fired 18 shots in the period. Maria Garcia tied the game in the 46th minute, and Brylee Johnson put MNU in front with a long shot in the 67th minute. Elvia Villagomez converted a PK in the 84th minute, and the Pioneers won 3-1.

"Coming off our last conference game we knew collectively as a group that improvement was needed," said Coach McClanahan. "Our coaching staff and student-athletes stepped up and did exactly that in today's game. Throughout the entire game we showed maturity and improved our performance. In the second half we were able to earn a shutout and score three unanswered goals, which was great to see. Overall it was a great next step and we look forward to our next test against a nationally ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan."
