MNU Sweeps Baker

The Basics
Score: MNU 3 - Baker 0
Record: MNU (12-6, 5-2), BU (9-13, 3-3)
Location: Baldwin City, Kan.

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - MNU swept Baker on the road on Tuesday. The Pioneers trailed by 1 late in the first set, but a 6-point run to take a 24-19 lead propelled them to victory 25-20. Set 2 was tied at 20 before MNU went on a 5-1 run to finish for a 2-0 lead. Set 3 was tight deep into the contest as well, and the Pioneers had to fight off 3 set points before finally winning 28-26.

"It's always a fun game against Baker!" said Coach Karagyaurov. "I have so many memories in that rivalry. Yesterday, Baker threw a great event in a fun atmosphere. Our JV led the way under Coach Megan sweeping Baker 2-0 and playing really low error volleyball. Then we took care of business. The girls performed and I'm proud of them. They continue to make baby steps in practice and I'm happy that it showed in the match tonight. Baker really put pressure on us and got us down in both Set 2 and 3 and for us to fight back with a few multi-point runs was great to see! Tanya Bonkova with a serving run in Set 3 in particular was extremely important. But battling back and forth and winning 28-26 in set 3 for the sweep on their home floor was pretty sweet. God is good and I'm thankful for this program."
