Pioneers Sweep Clarke

OLATHE, Kan. - Cassidy Berry homered 3 times in a double header sweep of Clarke on Friday. In Game 1, the Pioneers jumped out to a 4-run 1st inning lead highlighted by a bases loaded single from Kinsey Kiser and a 2-out 2-run single from Emma Ryan. Kaleigh Bayless homered in the 2nd to give MNU a 5-0 lead, and Cassidy Berry pushed the lead to 6 with a solo shot in the 5th. Emily Robinson cruised into the 7th with a shutout, but a 1-out bases loaded single made it 6-1. A runner was thrown out on the bases, and MNU was poised to take Game 1. But an error extended the inning, and a single brought the tying run to the plate. A 3-run homer tied the game, and MNU had to hit in the 7th. Cassidy Berry led off by drilling a 2-0 pitch over the fence to give MNU a 7-6 win.  Game 1 Turning Point

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Regan Smith recorded 1 out to get the win in relief. And Kaleigh Bayless (1-3, R, HR, RBI, BB), Tessa Ward (2-4, R), Cassidy Berry (3-4, 2 R, 2 HR, 2 RBI), Kinsey Kiser (2-3, R, 2B, RBI), and Emma Ryan (2-3, 2 RBI) led the offense.

In Game 2, the Pioneers scored in every inning to win a slugfest 15-7. Four runs scored in the 1st inning again, and MNU hit 3 homers and 5 doubles to win via the mercy rule in the 6th. Game 2 Turning Point

Allison Denges pitched 4.2 innings for the win. And Kaleigh Bayless (1-4, 3 R, HR, RBI, BB, SB), Cassidy Berry (1-2, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, BB, SB, HBP), Tessa Ward (2-4, 2 RBI), Audrey Denges (3-3, 4 R, 2 2B, HR, 3 RBI, HBP), Hannah Tenberge (2-4, RBI), and Kellie Dumas (3-4, R, 2 2B, 3 RBI) had big games at the plate.
