Pioneers Split With Valley

OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers split a double header vs. Missouri Valley on Thursday. In Game 1, the Pioneers jumped to the lead in the 1st on a homer from Kaleigh Bayless. Valley was held scored through 3 innings, but a 2-out 3-run homer turned the game around. The Vikings scored 3 more in the 5th, 1 in the 6th, and blew it open with 3 in the 7th to take a 10-2 lead. The Pioneers tried to make a comeback in the bottom of the 7th with another Bayless homer, a Cassidy Berry 2-run double, and a Kellie Dumas RBI single, but couldn't get the tying run to the plate in a 10-6 loss.

Game 1 Turning Point
Valley's 3-run homer in the 4th turned a deficit into a lead.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Kaleigh Bayless (2-2, 3 R, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB, SB), Emily Robinson (2-3, BB, SB), Audrey Denges (2-4), and Cassidy Berry (1-3, R, 2B, 2 RBI, HBP) led the offense.

In Game 2, Emily Robinson dominated in the circle and needed just a single run in the 1st inning to salvage the split. Robinson scored on a groundout then kept the Vikings off the board while scattering 5 hits. Hannah Tenberge drove in Kellie Dumas in the bottom of the 5th, and Robinson ended the only threat in the 6th by recording a strikeout with 2 outs and 2 in scoring position. Game 2 Turning Point
MNU's run in the 1st was all Robinson needed.

Game 2 Individual Leaders
Emily Robinson struck out 7 in a complete game shutout. And Cassidy Berry (1-3, 2B, RBI) and Hannah Tenberge (1-3, RBI) drove in runs for MNU.
