Pioneers Split at Evangel

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Pioneers split a double header at Evangel on Wednesday. In Game 1, Evangel took a 3-0 lead after 2 innings, but MNU tied it in the top of the 3rd. Audrey Denges' 2-out 2-run single made it 3-3, but Evangel exploded for 7 in the bottom of the 3rd and ran away with it. Cassidy Berry homered in the 5th but MNU fell 11-6.

Evangel's 7-run 3rd gave them a huge lead.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Kaleigh Bayless (4-4, 2 R), Cassidy Berry (2-3, R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, SF), Audrey Denges (2-3, 2 RBI, BB, SB), and Emily Butcoff (2-3, 2 R) had multi-hit games.

In Game 2, Evangel scored 2 in the 2nd to take the lead, but the Pioneers scored in each of the final 5 innings to win big. Tessa Ward gave the Pioneers the lead in the top of the 5th with a 2-run homer, and MNU rallied for 4 more in the 6th to blow it open.

Emily Robinson struck out 5 in a complete game victory while getting 4 hits and 4 RBIs at the plate. And Kaleigh Bayless (2-4, R, 4 RBI, SF), Cassidy Berry (2-5, R, 2B, RBI), Tessa Ward (1-4, R, HR, 2 RBI), Kellie Dumas (1-1, 2 R, 2 BB), Hannah Tenberge (2-2, 3 R, 2 BB), and Emily Butcoff (1-3, 2 R, Sac) led the offense.
