OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers fought back from a 2-goal deficit but ended up losing late to Benedictine in the Conference Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday. The Ravens got on the board in the 15th minute, then went up 2-0 in the 34th minute.
Maria Garcia worked through 3 defenders and beat the keeper to cut the deficit in half, and MNU went into halftime trailing by 1.
Early in the second half, MNU thwarted a breakaway but earned a straight red for the foul, and the Pioneers had to play a man down the rest of the game. In the 67th minute,
Brylee Johnson's free kick from deep found the head of
Savannah Moxley and the game was tied.
In the 83rd minute, the Pioneers tried to clear from deep in their own zone but the ball pinballed around right to the foot of a Raven who buried the deciding goal. MNU pressed in the final minutes and had a few chances, but couldn't find the net and the Pioneers lost 3-2.

Benedictine's goal with 7 minutes left broke the tie.
