OLATHE, Kan. - MNU started the 2019-20 season with a 79-66 win over a tough Kansas Christian squad to open the Jeff Uphaus Memorial Classic on Thursday. The Pioneers opened strongly with a 17-7 run to take an early 10-point lead, but the Eagles chipped away and trailed by just 4 at halftime. Kansas Christian opened the second half hot and had a 3-point lead after 7 minutes. The game remained tight until MNU finally opened up a lead in the final 6 minutes.
Dakota Quinn's thunderous dunk sparked an 13-4 run over 3 minutes to give the Pioneers an 11-point lead. MNU hit their free throws down the stretch to hold off the Eagles, and the Pioneers won by 13.
