Pioneers Take 3 of 4 from Ravens

OLATHE, Kan. - MNU won 3 of 4 from Benedictine at home this week. In Game 1, neither offense got much going until MNU scored in the bottom of the 5th on a Lenzie Foley single, stolen base, passed ball, and Cooper Curran sac fly. The Pioneers plated 2 more in the 6th, and starter Jacob Sylvester made the 3-0 lead hold up.

Cooper Curran's sacrifice fly in the 5th was all MNU needed.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Jacob Sylvester struck out 6 and allowed just 5 hits in a complete game shutout. And Lenzie Foley (2-2, R, SB) had 2 hits.

In Game 2, MNU rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the 2nd sparked by a Joshuan Sandoval leadoff double. Benedictine got 1 back with a homer in the 4th, but MNU extended the lead with 4 runs on 5 hits in the bottom of the inning. The Ravens rallied for 3 runs in the 6th to get back in the game, but the Pioneers responded again with 4 runs to put the game away.

Game 2 Turning Point
Each time Benedictine scored, the Pioneers answered with a multi-run inning.

Jordan Dailey struck out 7 in a complete game victory. And Sam Parrish (1-3, R, 3 RBI), JP Rousseau (3-4, 2 R, RBI), Lenzie Foley (3-4, 2 R, RBI, 2 SB), Josh Compton (1-2, R, 2 RBI, BB), Juwan Padro (1-2, R, 2B), and Cooper Curran (2-2, 2 R, 2 RBI, SB, SF) led the offense.

In Game 3, the Pioneers built a 4-run lead in the 3rd inning, but the Ravens tied the game in the 5th with 4 runs on 1 hit and 4 Pioneer errors. MNU responded with a Joshuan Sandoval solo homer to re-take the lead, and Austyn Gooch closed out the 5-4 victory.

Austin Conour struck out 4 and allowed no earned runs in 4.2 innings in a no-decision. Austyn Gooch pitched 2.1 innings of 1-run ball for the win. And Sam Parrish (3-3, R, BB, SB), Joshuan Sandoval (2-3, R, HR, 2 RBI), JP Rousseau (2-2, 2 R, HBP), and Juwan Padro (3-3, 2 2B, 3 RBI) led the offense.

In Game 4, neither team scored until Benedictine rallied for 3 runs in the top of the 5th. MNU answered with single runs in the 5th and 6th and had 2 runners on base in the 7th, but a groundout ended the threat and the Ravens won 3-2.

Benedictine scored 3 times in the 5th to take a lead they would not relinquish.
