OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers made a late comeback in Game 1 and dominated Game 2 in a sweep of Peru State on Saturday.
In Game 1, Peru State built a 7-2 lead in the 6th, but the Pioneers mounted a comeback. Pinch hitter
Taylor Creason's 2-out 2-run triple cut into the deficit in the bottom of the 6th, and MNU quickly tied the game in the bottom of the 7th.
Madison Butcoff led off with a single and
Emily Robinson followed with a hit.
Macie Jones knocked them both in with a double, and
Kinsey Kiser tied the game at 7 with a sacrifice fly. In the top of the 10th, Peru State couldn't convert their international tie-breaker baserunner, and
Shelby Frans ended the game in the bottom of the 10th with an RBI single.
Game 1 Turning Point
Taylor Creason's pinch hit 2-out 2-run triple in the 6th started the comeback.
