OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers dropped Game 1 in extra innings but won Game 2 vs. Avila on Friday. In Game 1, both teams scored in the first inning, and MNU took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 3rd. Avila answered with a run in the 4th, and the game stayed tied until the 9th. The Eagles recorded back-to-back doubles with 2 outs to take the lead, and MNU couldn't answer in the bottom of the inning.

Baker's 2-out run-scoring double in the top of the 9th was the game-winner.
Game 1 Individual Leaders
Macie Jones (2-4, 2B, RBI) had 2 hits for MNU.
In Game 2, Avila recorded single runs in the 1st and 3rd innings to take a 2-0 lead, and MNU was kept off the board through 4 innings.
Tessa Ward's solo homer in the bottom of the 5th cut the deficit in half, and
Taylor Creason's 2-out 2-run homer in the 6th gave the Pioneers the lead.
Emily Robinson threw a perfect 7th to complete the victory and salvage a split.
