OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers built a big lead and held on for a 38-30 victory over Central Methodist on Saturday.
Pablo Pereira's 24-yard field goal got MNU on the board, and an unintentional onside kick set up the Pioneers at the CMU 34.
Levi Taylor's 13-yard touchdown pass to
Dalton Inlow put MNU up 10-0 before the Eagles had the ball. Touchdowns from
Jamar Moya and
Levi Taylor put MNU up 24-3 at halftime.
The Pioneers scored on their opening possession of the second half to take a 31-3 lead, but the Eagles started to mount a comeback. Consecutive touchdown drives made in 31-17, but
Jamar Moya got loose for a 64-yard scored to push the lead back to 21. CMU scored 2 more touchdowns in the 4th quarter with a missed PAT to get within 8, and got to the red zone twice in the final minutes. But a 4th down stop and an interception ended the threat.

David Haney's interception in the red zone sealed the win for MNU.
