OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers hung close to #17 Baker until the game turned near halftime in a 34-7 Homecoming loss on Saturday. MNU held the Wildcats to 2 field goals in the first quarter, and took a 7-6 lead early in the second quarter with a 62-yard touchdown pass from
Levi Taylor to
Jamar Moya.
Dywon Byrd intercepted a pass on the next Baker drive, and the Pioneers drove to the red zone looking to extend the lead. But Baker picked off a pass to stop the drive, and MNU would not score again. The Wildcats drove 61 yards in 8 plays near the end of the half to re-take the lead, and another interception in the red zone led to a quick Baker score for a 20-7 halftime lead.
Baker recorded 2 touchdowns in the 2nd half while keeping MNU off the board for a 34-7 victory.
