PERU, Neb. - MNU split a pair of mercy rule games at Peru State on Saturday. In Game 1, MNU exploded for 6 runs in the 1st inning highlighted by a Lydia Reyes homer. Peru led off the bottom of the inning with their only hit of the game, a solo homer, and followed with an error and a walk. But not another Bobcat would reach base as Emily Robinson retired the next 14 in a row. Hanna VanLanker homered in a 3-run 3rd, and the Pioneers won 9-1 in 5 innings.

Game 1 Turning Point
Lydia Reyes' 2-run homer in the 1st was all MNU needed.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Emily Robinson struck out 5 in a 5-inning complete game victory. And Madison Butcoff (3-4, RBI), Lydia Reyes (2-3, R, HR, 2 RBI), Brittany Jacobsen (2-3, 2 R, 2B), Hanna VanLanker (1-3, R, HR, 2 RBI), and Maddie Johnson (2-3, 2 R, 2B, 2 RBI) led the offense.

In Game 2, Reyes homered in the 1st to start the scoring, but the Peru offense was not to be stopped as they scored 4 in the 1st, 2 in the second, 4 in the 3rd, and 2 in the 4th to build a 12-1 lead. MNU made it interesting with a 3-run top of the 5th, but Peru closed out the mercy rule game to salvage a split.

Game 2 Turning Point
Peru's 4-run 1st was the springboard to a huge offensive game.

Game 2 Individual Leaders
Lydia Reyes (2-3, R, HR, RBI) had 2 of MNU's 4 hits.

Up Next
The next double header is Monday at Graceland (14-14, 6-8) starting at 4:00.
