MARSHALL, Mo. - The Pioneers survived a 4-game series sweep at Missouri Valley this weekend.
Game 1 Turning Point
A 6-run top of the 2nd blew the game open.
Game 1 Individual Leaders
Matt Terrones earned his 6th win with a complete game 5-hitter. And
Logan Tills (2-4, 3 R, 4 RBI),
Chase Robinson (2-5, R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI),
Robert Berning (1-1, R, HR, RBI, BB, 2 HBP), and
Isaac Geisinger (2-3, 3 R, 2B, HR, BB) led the offense.
In Game 2, MNU scored in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings to build a 6-0 lead and won 6-1.
Game 2 Turning Point
A 3-run 3rd was all MNU needed.
Game 2Â Individual Leaders
Jordan Dailey struck out 7 in a complete game victory. And
Jason Jones (3-4, R, HR, 2 RBI) and
Jacob Jenkins (3-4, R, 2B, RBI) had 3 hits apiece.
In Game 3, 7 different Pioneers went deep as MNU won 13-4.
Game 3 Turning Point
Jacob Jenkins' 2-out 3-run homer in the top of the 3rd gave MNU a lead they would not relinquish.
Game 3 Individual Leaders
Emilio Gonzales got the win allowing 6 hits in a complete game. And
Jason Jones (2-4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, SB, HBP),
Logan Tills (2-4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, BB),
Chase Robinson (2-4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, BB),
Jacob Jenkins (1-3, R, HR, 3 RBI, BB),
Isaac Geisinger (1-4, R, HR, RBI),
Christian Quinones (3-4, 3 R, 2B, HR, RBI, SB), and
Kelvin Perez (2-4, R, HR, 2 RBI) left the yard.
In Game 4, MNU scored 4 in the 1st on an
Isaac Geisinger grand slam, but Valley rallied for 8 runs in the bottom of the inning. MNU closer
Joel Lopez had to enter the game with 1 out in the 1st, and he stayed in through the 6th with 119 pitches. Each team kept scoring in every inning until MNU finally held the Vikings scoreless in the bottom of the 5th. MNU finally took the lead with a 5-run top of the 5th, and Valley responded with 3 to make it 16-15.
Lenzie Foley entered to close the game, and the tying run was tagged out at the plate on a wild pitch to complete the sweep.
Game 4 Turning Point
Jason Jones' 2-run double gave MNU the lead for good in the top of the 6th.
Game 4 Individual Leaders
Joel Lopez earned the win with 5.2 innings of relief.
Lenzie Foley picked up the save. And
Jason Jones (3-6, 3 R, 2 2B, HR, 4 RBI),
Jacob Jenkins (3-4, 2 R, 3 2B, 3 RBI, BB), and
Isaac Geisinger (1-3, R, HR, 5 RBI, BB) combined for 12 RBIs.
