OLATHE, Kan. - MNU won the middle games in a 4-game weekend split vs. Avila. In Game 1, MNU managed just 1 run on 4 hits while Avila put up 6 to take Game 1.

In Game 2, Avila jumped on the Pioneers with 2 runs in the top of the 1st, but Nelson Santiago gave MNU the lead with a 3-run shot in the bottom of the inning. Avila rallied for 4 in the top of the 3rd and added another in the 4th to take a 7-3 lead. The Pioneers got 1 back in the 4th and Robert Berning's 3-run bomb in the 5th tied the game at 7. In the bottom of the 6th, MNU took the lead on a 2-out RBI double from Jason Jones, but Avila tied it in the top of the 7th. In the bottom of the 7th, Christian Quinones' 2-out walk-off single ended it.

In Game 3, MNU scored in the 3rd with a Jason Jones 3-run shot. In the bottom of the 4th, MNU rallied for 4 more and cruised to an 8-4 victory.

In Game 4, Avila jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st, but the Pioneers answered with 6 in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. The Eagles exploded in the 2nd, however, and put up 10 before the damage was done. MNU chipped away but couldn't overcome the deficit in a 15-11 loss.
