Emily Robinson's MNU debut was a complete game shutout while reaching base 3 times. The Pioneers scored twice in the 4th when
Kinsey Kiser led off with a single after an 11-pitch at bat. Robinson followed with a single which skipped past the left fielder to bring home Kiser. After a walk and a bunt,
Natalie Clark singled home the 2nd run and MNU led 2-0. In the bottom of the 6th, MNU loaded the bases with 1 out.
Natalie Clark drove home all 3 runners with a double to give MNU a 5-0 lead, and Robinson finished out the 7th for the win.
Game 1 Turning Point
Kiser's 11-pitch at bat sparked a 2-run rally in the 4th.
Game 1 Individual Leaders
Emily Robinson struck out 7 in 7 innings for a complete game victory. And Robinson (2-2, R, BB) and
Natalie Clark (2-3, 2B, 4 RBI, SB) led the offense.
In Game 2, the Pioneers led 1-0 and 2-1, but Washburn scored the last 2 runs to take a 3-2 lead in the 6th. In the bottom of the 7th,
Hanna VanLanker and
Shelby Frans singled to put runners on the corners with 2 outs. But a groundout ended the game and Washburn salvaged a split.
