OLATHE, Kan. - MNU's season came to an end with a 2-1 loss to Wayland Baptist in the Opening Round on Saturday. The same two teams met last season in the same situation when MNU won 2-1. On a very windy day, Wayland got on the board in just the 2nd minute of the game when a shot was saved and the rebound was headed home. MNU was against the wind and almost made it to halftime trailing by just one, but WBU scored again with a long shot in the 44th minute to go up 2-0 at the break.
Jonathan Koch's second career goal in the 74th minute got MNU back in the game, but Wayland was able to hold off the Pioneers in the final 15 minutes to secure the victory and advance to the Final Site.

Wayland's goal just before halftime changed the dynamic of the second half.
