After struggling in the first half, the Pioneers trailed by 9 heading to the locker room. A quick start to the second half saw MNU with 12-4 run to get within 1, but Penn pushed their lead back to 8. MNU hung around as
Dante Scroggins caught fire from beyond the arc, and finally rattled off an 8-0 run to tie the game with 6 minutes left. The teams traded free throws in the final minute, and MNU had the ball with 16 seconds left.
Justin Randall caught a pass at the top of the key and launched a shot while getting fouled. The ball banked home, and Randall hit the free throw to seal it.
Justin Randall shot 11-18 and recorded a career-high 27 points to go along with 9 rebounds.
Dante Scroggins was 8-11 from the field including 6-9 from deep for a career-high 22 points.
Gabriel Jordan added 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Hudson Welty had 8 points and 7 rebounds. And
Payne Andrus had 8 points, 7 rebounds, 12 assists, and 2 steals.
