Men's Soccer Back on Winning Track

The Men's Soccer team got back to their winning ways Friday afternoon with a 4-1 victory at Avila University. After their first conference loss this season on Tuesday night, the Pioneers were eager to put that game behind them. In a rare Friday afternoon fixture because of Avila homecoming events, MNU wasted no time getting the scoring started.

In just the 7th minute of the game, Tanner Hunjak took a pass from Dominic Harrington and finished past the Eagle goalkeeper. In the 15th minute, those two combined again to make the score 2-0. Just three minutes later, Harrington got his goal from a Matias Cabello assist. Just before the break the score was 4-0 when Clark Campbell played a ball into the box that was deflected by an Avila defender for the dreaded own goal.

MNU did not add to their goal total in the second half. An Avila goal in the 77th minute produced the final score of 4-1. For the game MNU outshot AU 23-5; with shots on goal being 15-3. Two different goalkeepers for Avila combined for 11 saves. Yann Passet for MNU was credited with 2 saves. The Eagles fall to 0-9-1 (0-4) on the season.

MNU is 7-2-1 (3-1) on the season. Next up is Benedictine College (2-2-1, 2-1) on Tuesday, October 4th at 3:30 at Pioneer Field.
