Pioneers Sweep Ozarks on Tills Walk-Off

Brett Ebers and Robert Berning keyed a Game 1 victory, and Logan Tills was the hero of Game 2 in a double header sweep of College of the Ozarks on Tuesday. The Pioneers got on the board in the bottom of the third when Lenzie Foley walked with 2 outs and Jordan Eckley's doubled brought him home. In the bottom of the fourth, Robert Berning hit a 3-run homer to make it 4-0, and MNU held on for a 5-2 victory. Brett Ebers allowed just 4 hits in 6 innings for his fourth win of the season. And Logan Tills (2-3, R) and Robert Berning (2-3, R, HR, 3 RBI) led the offense.

Game 2 was a high-scoring affair that ended with a Pioneer walk-off in the eighth inning. Ozarks scored 2 in the top of the first, but Logan Tills tied it with his first MNU homer in the bottom of the inning. Jordan Eckley's 2-run double - his MNU single-season record 20th of the season - gave MNU a 4-2 lead in the second. Ozarks scored 3 in the top of the third, but MNU answered with 5 in the bottom of the inning to take a 9-5 lead. The Bobcats kept coming, however, and 2 runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings tied the game at 9. In the top of the eighth, a wild pitch with a runner at second bounced all the way into the dugout, giving C of O another base and a 10-9 lead. In the bottom of the eighth, Brandon Marrero led off with a solo shot to tie the game. Christian Quinones singled, Blake Robberson bunted him to second, and after an intentional walk Logan Tills singled home Quinones for the winning run.

Lenzie Foley threw 2.1 innings of hitless relief for the win. And Jordan Eckley (3-4, R, 2B, 3 RBI, BB, SB), Logan Tills (2-5, R, HR, 3 RBI), Nelson Santiago (2-4, R, 2B, RBI), Jeremie Gonzalez (3-4, R, 2B, RBI, SB), Brandon Marrero (1-4, R, HR, RBI), and Christian Quinones (2-4, 3 R, RBI, 2 SB) led the offense.

MNU is 25-7 (9-5 Heart). The next 4-game series this weekend at home starting with a double header on Friday vs. Baker (12-19, 6-8) at 1:00.
