MNU secured its 4th Heart Tournament title in the last 5 years in a 53-41 victory over Baker on Tuesday. In a huge defensive struggle, neither team topped 32% shooting and only MNU's 4th quarter topped 12 points in any period. At the end of the first Baker led 12-11, and with 4:45 left in the second, the Wildcats built a 9-point lead. MNU finished the half on a 6-0 run, and the defense played lockdown for the rest of the game.

The Pioneers allowed just 6 points in the third quarter, but MNU only scored 11 to take a 2-point lead. MNU started the fourth quarter with a 16-0 run, keeping Baker off the scoreboard for the first 7 plus minutes and putting the game away. Jasmine Webb had 2 points heading into the fourth, but she turned it on and scored 12 straight as the lead ballooned. The Pioneers won the fourth quarter 21-11 to win by 12.

Megan Balcom led all scorers with 18 points. She also hauled in 9 rebounds. Jasmine Webb added 14 points and 2 steals. Tristin Wicks had 10 points, 8 rebounds, a team-high 3 assists, and 2 blocks. And Whitney Moia had 11 rebounds and 5 blocks in 16 minutes off the bench.

MNU is 27-5. The Pioneers await their matchup at the national tournament in Independence, Missouri next week.
