MNU Splits Non-Con

MNU lost Game 1 in extra innings, but won Game 2 convincingly in a double header split vs. #24 Lindenwood-Belleville on Thursday. In the first game, LU-B scored an unearned run in the top of the third to take a 1-0 lead, but MNU tied it in the bottom of the fourth. Neither team could score through the seventh, and the game went to extra innings. In the top of the eighth, 3 infield singles scored a run, then a grand slam blew the game open. MNU picked up a run in the bottom of the eighth but fell 6-2. Alexis Pacheco (1-3, 2B, RBI, BB, SF) and Macie Jones (2-3, BB) led the offense.

In Game 2, Clarisa Cortez threw a complete-game 1-hit shutout as the offense put up 7. Macie Jones drove in 2 runs with a single in the first in a 3-run inning. Korrissa Aguilar's RBI triple put MNU up 4-0 in the second, and Macie Jones' 2-run homer in the sixth made it 7-0.

Clarisa Cortez struck out 8 and allowed just 1 hit for her 3rd win of the season. And Korrissa Aguilar (2-4, R, 3B, RBI), Macie Jones (4-4, R, HR, 4 RBI, SB), and Natalie Clark (3-4, R, RBI) had multi-hit games.

MNU is 12-6 (4-2 Heart). The next double header is Saturday at #20 Grand View (21-5, 5-1) at 1:00.
