MNU split two tight contests at Warner on Tuesday. In Game 1,
Madison McKay's 2-out 2-run single in the first inning was all the Pioneers could muster, but
Taylor Pearcy and
Lydia Reyes combined to hold Warner to 1 run to get the victory. Pearcy struck out 3 for the win, and Reyes pitched 2 scoreless innings for the save.
Maddie Johnson (3-4, R, 2B) and
Madison McKay (2-3, 2 RBI) led the offense.
In Game 2, MNU led 3-1 until Warner rallied for 1 in the fourth and 3 more in the fifth to take a 5-3 lead. In the top of the sixth, the Pioneers took advantage of an error and a
Kinsey Kiser RBI double to tie the game. In the 8th inning, MNU couldn't score the runner placed on second for the international tie-breaker, and Warner converted with 2 outs to win via the walk-off to hand the Pioneers their first loss of the season.
Maddie Johnson (2-4, R),
Korrissa Aguilar (2-4, R, 3B),
Alexis Pacheco (2-3, R, 2 RBI, SB, sac), and
Natalie Clark (2-4, R) had multi-hit games.
MNU is 7-1. The next game is Friday at Southeastern (18-8) at 1:00 central.
