Ashley Gibson recorded a double double in MNU's 56-53 victory over #2 Westmont on Friday. It marked the highest ranked MNU opponent since defeating then-#1 Vanguard last year. The Pioneers came out strong and led Westmont 13-4 after the first quarter. Westmont fought back in the second and MNU led 26-21 at halftime. The surge continued in the third and the game was tied heading to the fourth. In the final minute, MNU led by 3 and Westmont was able to get off three shots from beyond the arc before the Pioneers finally got the rebound to secure the game.
Ashley Gibson had 19 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
Jayden Oliver added 12 points and 2 steals.
Jovana Jovovic had 9 points and 4 assists off the bench. And Tanchelle Hollingsworth had 6 assists and 6 rebounds.
