The Heart of America Athletic Conference released the 2016 awards today for Men's Soccer. The Pioneers were well represented after their conference championship was wrapped up last weekend. The full press release can be found at http://www.heartofamericaconference.com/article/3172.php

Representing MNU on the First Team are Eduardo Heringer, Frantzly Zephirin, and Dominic Harrington. Heringer is a repeat winner having been selected to the first team last year. This is the first all-conference recognition for Zephirin and Harrington. Zephirin was further honored as the Defensive MVP of the Conference. A very nice award for the senior who helped lead the Pioneer defense to a stingy .710 goals against average for the season. He also chipped in with 8 assists on the year so far. Harrington was given the Conference Newcomer of the Year Award. This is the first time this honor has been given in the Heart and the Junior transfer from Essex College is well deserving having led the conference with 15 goals and 4 assists on the year.

The lone representative for the Pioneers on the Second Team is Bryce McClanahan. This is his second time being selected to the all-conference team. The senior midfielder has played in every match for the Pioneers over the last 2 years. MNU's record with McClanahan in these games is an astounding 32-8-2. Wrapping up with the Third Team selections; MNU is represented by four players. Senior goalkeeper Yann Passet was honored for the first time since 2014. He has only conceded 4 goals in 830 minutes of play for an incredible .430 goal against average. He is joined by sophomore defender Johannes Keisers. This is Keisers first award of any kind. After taking on a substitute roll in his freshman year, the Borussia Monchengladbach product has stepped into a full time roll at center back. Junior midfielder Matias Cabello is the next honoree for the Pioneers. He has enjoyed a stellar season thus far contributing 6 goals and 7 assists. This is his first selection to the all-conference teams. Rounding out the selections for MNU is Junior forward Tanner Hunjak. An injury during conference play forced him to sit a few games but the Overland Park, Kansas product still managed to produce 10 goals and 2 assists on the year thus far. This is his first time being honored on the all-conference teams as well.

Wrapping up the all-conference awards is Coach Kevin Wardlaw. He was selected as the Heart of America Conference Coach of the Year. This is his fourth time being honored in this manner. In his 14th season at MNU his overall record for the Pioneers now stands at 182-81-24. The all-conference awards are voted on by the Head Coaches within the conference at their season ending business meetings. MNU will now begin post season play with the conference tournament next up.
