DES MOINES, Iowa – MNU fell 1-0 at Grand View on Saturday in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament semifinals. A first-half goal proved to be the difference as the Pioneers were unable to find an equalizer despite several opportunities.

MNU created the better chances early, forcing saves in the 12th, 18th, and 22nd minutes. Jaxon Slaven accounted for 2 of those opportunities, while Kevin De Andrade had a header stopped in the 18th minute.

Grand View broke through in the 37th minute, scoring at 36:40 to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Pioneers pressed for an equalizer in the second half. Amaro Piaggio forced a save in the 58th minute, and De Andrade followed with another opportunity just over a minute later. Piaggio tested the goalkeeper again in the 64th minute, but MNU remained scoreless.

Grand View threatened to extend its lead in the 61st minute, but Piaggio made a defensive save to keep the Pioneers within 1 goal. Goalkeeper Lennart Fischer also made several important stops as MNU continued searching for the tying goal.

MNU was unable to generate another scoring opportunity in the closing minutes, and Grand View held on for the 1-0 victory.
