Pioneers Split at Tabor

MNU won one and lost one in a New Year tournament at Tabor over the weekend. On Friday, the Pioneers suffered a 33% shooting night and couldn't hold off the Blue Jays. MNU managed to work a 9-point deficit down to 4 in the third quarter, but Tabor opened up the fourth on fire and built a 16-point lead. Tabor won 66-54.

Kyleesha Weston had 11 points. Megan Balcom added 10 points and 4 steals. And Whitney Moia grabbed 7 rebounds off the bench.

On Saturday vs. Sterling, the Pioneers were back on track and won 86-64. MNU led 27-13 after the first quarter and cruised to the 22-point victory. Tristin Wicks led the way with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Ellie Dietz hit three 3-pointers for 12 points off the bench. Leah Courtney shot 5-6 for 11 points and 4 rebounds in 14 minutes. Kyleesha Weston had 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. And Megan Balcom had 10 points and 4 assists.

MNU is 9-3 (4-1 Heart). The next game is Wednesday at home vs. Peru State (4-9, 1-4) at 5:30.
