Randall's Game-Winner Highlights Victory

Justin Randall's 15-footer gave MNU a 72-70 victory over Evangel on Thursday. The Pioneers had a hard time getting in an offensive rhythm in the early going, and Evangel led 12-5 after 7 minutes. MNU finally took their first lead on a Justin Jamison offensive rebound and dunk, and the Pioneers took a 3-point lead into halftime.

Early in the second half, Evangel took the lead and build a 6-point advantage with 8 minutes to play. MNU went on an 8-2 run to tie it, and neither team took more than a 2-point lead in the final 6 minutes. Zero 3-point shots were made until Evangel drilled one to take a 2-point lead with 4 minutes left, but Gabriel Jordan answered with the Pioneers' only triple to take the lead back just a minute later. Evangel finished 1-18 while MNU was 1-6 from beyond the arc. With the score tied and 24 seconds left, Nick Syrie dribbled out the clock before he found Randall at the elbow for the game-winning jumper. Evangel's desperation heave went begging, and the MNU faithful went home happy.

Gabriel Jordan led MNU with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Justin Randall had 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Nick Syrie had 11 points and 8 assists. And Justin Jamison pulled in a game-high 9 rebounds in 20 minutes in his MNU debut.

MNU is 11-6 (4-5 Heart). The next game is Saturday at home vs. Missouri Valley (9-8, 4-5) at 4:00.
