Macie Jones walked off Game 1, and the Pioneers controlled Game 2 for a non conference sweep of St. Mary on Thursday night. On an extremely windy day, the Spires jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the second with a pair of home runs. After USM took a 6-0 lead, the Pioneers started their comeback in the bottom of the third. With 1 out,

Alexis Pacheco doubled to put 2 runners on.
Kaity Wills and
Hayley Gately singled to score 3, and
Shelby Frans brought home another with a 2-out RBI single. In the bottom of the fourth, Martinez and Pacheco singled and scored on a Gately 2-run single to tie it at 6. In the bottom of the seventh,
Macie Jones ended the game with a bomb to center, and MNU won 7-6.
Taylor Pearcy earned the victory in relief, and

In Game 2,
Hayley Gately crushed a 2-run homer in the bottom of the first, and MNU never trailed. MNU went up 3-0 in the fourth, but St. Mary scored single runs in the fifth and sixth to cut into the deficit. In the bottom of the sixth, RBIs from
Madison McKay,
Macie Jones, and
Shelby Frans extended the lead, and the Pioneers held on to win 6-2.
Taylor Pearcy struck out 5 in a complete game victory, and
Jess Peacock (1-3, 2 R),
Hayley Gately (1-3, R, HR, 2 RBI),
Madison McKay (2-3, 2 R, RBI), and
Macie Jones (1-2, RBI, BB) led the offense.
MNU is 15-22 (3-5 HAAC). The next double header is Saturday at home vs. Graceland (8-14, 3-3) at 1:00.
