Tavarez With 2 Homers in Losses at Park

Ana Tavarez homered in each game, her first homers as a Pioneer, but MNU lost 2 close games in a tri hosted by Park on Saturday. The morning game vs. #6 St. Gregory's, the Cavaliers took a 3-run lead by the third inning, but MNU scored 2 in the bottom of the inning to cut the deficit to 1. SGU added another in the top of the seventh, and the Pioneers could not come back. Jess Peacock (2-4, R, 2B), Hayley Gately (2-3), and Tavarez (2-3, R, HR, RBI) led the offense.

In the afternoon game, MNU faced host Park and again fell behind 3-0 early. The Pioneers couldn't manage a run until the seventh when Tavarez homered off the bench, and MNU fell 3-1. Peacock (2-4), Alexis Pacheco (2-3), and Tavarez (1-1, R, HR, RBI) led the offense.

MNU is 5-10. The next game is a double header on Wednesday at Tabor (6-6) at 1:00.
