Pioneers Split at Tabor

The Pioneers went to Hillsboro and split a double header at Tabor on Wednesday. In Game 1, both team scored 1 in the first inning and Tabor put up another in the fourth. In the top of the fifth, MNU rallied for 3 runs on 3 hits to take the lead, but Tabor answered right back with 2 in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. In the top of the seventh with 2 outs and nobody on, Macie Jones was hit by a pitch and Hayley Gately & Kaity Wills singled to load the bases. Jessica Scarlett's single to right scored 2, and MNU fought off a rally in the bottom of the seventh to win 6-5. Megan Schwindler got the win in relief. And Felisha Vogelaar (2-4, 2 R, 2B), Macie Jones (2-2, R, 2 RBI, BB, SB, HBP), and Jessica Scarlett (1-3, 2 RBI) led the offense.

In Game 2, Tabor scored twice in the bottom of the first and never trailed. MNU scored 1 in the third, but Tabor rallied for 3 in the fouth to take a 5-1 lead. Jessica Scarlett's 2-out 2-run triple in the sixth got the Pioneers back in it, but Tabor held on for the 5-3 win. Jess Peacock (2-4, R, 2B, 2 SB), Alexis Pacheco (2-4, R), and Jessica Scarlett (1-3, 3B, 2 RBI) led the offense.

MNU is 6-11. The next game is a double header on Saturday at #5 Oklahoma City at noon.
