MNU Splits at Ottawa

MNU shut out the Braves in Game 1, but were shut out in Game 2 on Friday. In the first game, MNU got on the board in the third when Felisha Vogelaar doubled with 2 outs and Alexis Pacheco knocked her home with a single. Pacheco extended the lead in the fifth with another 2-out RBI single, and MNU led 2-0. The Pioneers iced it in the top of the seventh when Kimberly Montoya and Vogelaar singled and moved to scoring position with a bunt. Hayley Gately doubled them home with 2 outs, and Kaity Wills followed with another double to give MNU a 5-0 lead. Taylor Pearcy completed her 3-hit 5-strikeout shutout for the victory, and Felisha Vogelaar (3-4, 2 R, 2 2B), Alexis Pacheco (3-3, 2 RBI, 2 SB, Sac), Hayley Gately (1-4, R, 2B, 2 RBI), Kaity Wills (2-4, 2B, RBI), and Kimberly Montoya (2-3, 2 R) led the offense.

In Game 2, Ottawa jumped all over MNU with 5 runs on 3 hits, 3 walks, and a hit batsman in the first inning. MNU didn't get a hit after the first inning, and Ottawa put the game away with a 3-run fifth to win via the mercy rule.

MNU is 5-8. The Pioneers play St. Gregory's at 10am and Park at 2pm on Saturday. Both games will be played at Park.
