Pioneers Split With Braves

Walk-off Highlight MNU walked off Game 1, but dropped Game 2 for a double header split vs. Ottawa on Saturday. In the first game, Alexis Pacheco led off with a single, stole second, and scored on a Jess Peacock single. Macie Jones drove home Peacock with 2 outs, and MNU had an early 2-0 lead. Ottawa rallied for 5 runs on 4 hits, 2 walks, and an error in the third, but Ana Tavarez drilled a 2-run homer in the fourth to get the Pioneers within 1. In the bottom of the sixth, MNU scored on a Jess Peacock 2-out RBI single, and the game went to the seventh tied at 5. Hayley Gately led off the bottom of the seventh with a single, Madison McKay bunted her to second, and Macie Jones drove in the winning run with a single to center. Megan Schwindler pitched 4 innings of scoreless relief for the victory, and Jess Peacock (3-4, R, 2 RBI), Macie Jones (3-4, 2 RBI), and Ana Tavarez (1-2, R, HR, 2 RBI, Sac) led the offense.

In Game 2, Alexis Pacheco led off with a single, stole second, and scored on a Jess Peacock single to give MNU a 1-0 lead. Ottawa took the lead in the fourth with 2 run on 2 hits and an error, but an Ana Tavarez 2-out RBI single tied the game in the bottom of the inning. Ottawa rallied for 2 in the fifth, and the Pioneers couldn't mount a comeback. Alexis Pacheco (3-3, R, 2 SB) had 3 hits for the Pioneers.

MNU is 9-16. The next game is a double header at Avila (13-3-1) on Tuesday at 1:00 to start the HAAC schedule.
