Pioneers Swept at USAO

MNU jumped out to big leads in the first inning of each game at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, but couldn't hold them in a double header sweep on Tuesday. In Game 1, the Pioneers rallied for 4 in the top of the first, but USAO scored 3 in the third and 1 in the fourth to tie it. The teams went to the eighth still tied at 4, and USAO had runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs in the bottom of the inning. A groundout and a popout almost got the Pioneers out of the jam, but an infield single won the game 5-4. Hayley Gately (2-3, R, 2B, 2 RBI, BB), Macie Jones (2-3, 2B, Sac), and Kaity Wills (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, SB) had 2 hits apiece.

In Game 2, MNU again scored multiple runs in the top of the first, recording 3 runs. But USAO answered quickly with 1 in the first and 4 in the second to take a 2-run lead. The Pioneers were held scoreless the rest of the game, and 2 more runs in the bottom of the sixth accounted for the 7-3 final. Alexis Pacheco (3-3, R) and Macie Jones (1-3, 2 RBI, SB) led the offense.

MNU is 7-14. The next game is the home opening double header on Friday vs. Bethany at 1:00.
