Pioneers Split at Oklahoma Christian

A walkoff double cost MNU Game 1, but the Pioneers rebounded to win Game 2 at NCAA Div. II Oklahoma Christian on Monday. In the first game, MNU took a 6-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh, but OCU homered, doubled, and singled to open their half of the inning. A groundout, an RBI single, and another groundout made it 6-5 with 2 outs. A double scored 2, and MNU lost 7-6. Hayley Gately (2-4, R, 2 2B, 2 RBI), Alexis Pacheco (2-3, 2 R, 2B, RBI), Madison McKay (1-2, R, 2B, RBI), and Ana Tavarez (1-2, 2B, RBI, BB) led the offense.

In Game 2, the Pioneers jumped out to a 6-0 lead with 1 in the first, 3 in the second, and 2 in the third. OCU rallied for 5 in the fifth, and threatened with 2 base runners in the bottom of the seventh. But Megan Schwindler earned the save with a strikeout, and MNU hung on to win 6-5. Taylor Pearcy picked up her third win. And Alexis Pacheco (2-3, 2 R, 2 2B, RBI, BB), Madison McKay (4-4, RBI), Macie Jones (2-3, R), Kaity Wills (2-4, R), Felisha Vogelaar (2-2, R, SB, HBP), and Kimberly Montoya (2-3, R, 2B, RBI) had multi-hit games.

MNU is 7-12. The next game is a double header at USAO (17-4) on Tuesday at 12:00. The Pioneers defeated USAO 7-6 last month.
