The Pioneers avenged their lone conference loss win their largest win of the season, beating Peru State 83-41 on Thursday. MNU lost at Peru State last month, but the Pioneers have since won 9 straight and hold a 2-game lead in the HAAC with 3 to play.
Daria Sprew started the scoring with a layup on the opening possession and MNU never trailed, quickly building a 17-5 lead after 6 and a half minutes. MNU led by 21 at halftime, but couldn't afford to ease up after Peru had erased a 16-point halftime deficit in the previous matchup. The lead ballooned to 31 with 11 minutes remaining and got as high as 44 before the final horn. MNU shot 60% from the floor and held the Bobcats to 29%.
Daria Sprew led all scorers with 17 points on 8-9 shooting, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Megan Balcom added 12 points and 3 assists.
Jasmine Webb shot 6-9 for 12 points and 5 rebounds off the bench.
Martyna Kudziela was a perfect 5-5 from the floor for 10 points and 7 rebounds.
Tristin Wicks had 6 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Ashtynn Burns was 3-3 for 8 points and 2 steals.
Shadequa Longus had 6 points and 4 assists. And
Bailey Rinehart added 8 points in 12 minutes.
MNU is 21-5 (14-1 HAAC). The next game is Saturday at Central Methodist (14-11, 5-10) at 2:00.
