The #9 Pioneers opened the season with an 81-61 victory at Ottawa. MNU led for most of the first quarter, but Ottawa tied in the final seconds. The Pioneers opened an 8-point lead with 90 seconds left in the half, but Ottawa closed on a 5-0 run to trail by just 3 as the teams headed to the locker room.
The second half was all MNU. The Pioneers opened a 12-point lead in the 3rd quarter and extended to 26 in the fourth before cruising to the 20-point victory.

Jasmine Webb had 14 points on 6-10 shooting.
