Pioneers Sweep to Final Site

The Pioneers swept Union College (Ky.) convincingly on Saturday to advance to Sioux City and the final site of the NAIA National Championship. MNU jumped out to a 3-0 lead and controlled the first set throughout to win 25-14. The second set was a little tighter but the Pioneers maintained a 5 to 7-point lead and won 25-18 to take a 2-0 lead in the match. In the third set, MNU built a big lead and kept expanding it to with 25-12 and complete the sweep.

Gisele Silva hit .667 for 15 kills to lead the offense. Sofija Berezovska hit .556 for 11 kills and 7 digs. Cailyn Bessmer recorded 4 blocks. And Rachel Kater had 41 assists. MNU hit .500 for the match while holding Union to a .138 hitting percentage.

The Pioneers are 26-9. MNU will play at least 3 matches in pool play in Sioux City, Iowa starting Tuesday, December 1st.
