Pioneers Sweep Eastern Oregon

The #14 Pioneers won the first match of pool play with a sweep of #11 Eastern Oregon on Tuesday. In Set 1, MNU took a 10-5 lead to seize the early lead, but EOU went on a 12-4 run to take a late 3-point lead. MNU trailed 20-17 before dominating the closing points to take the first set 25-23.

The second set was tight until MNU again closed well, finishing with an 11-5 run to win 25-18. And the third set was the same story as the Pioneers closed on a 10-5 run to win 25-19.

Lauma Knupke hit .407 while recording 11 kills. Sofija Berezovska had 11 kills and 11 digs. Gisele Silva (14) and Tashley Snyder (13) had double digit digs. And Rachel Kater recorded 36 assists.

MNU is 27-9. The next match is Wednesday vs. #1 Lindsey Wilson (34-3) at 5:45. The top 2 teams in each pool advance to the next round.
