Homecoming Shutout for MNU

The MNU Pioneers came out on top Saturday afternoon, 1-0, against a strong Culver-Stockton side. Coming off of MNU's win against #3 Benedictine, the Pioneers were out to prove the game wasn't just a one off. MNU came out strong against Culver-Stockton College, looking to find an early goal. However, MNU was met by a strong and stingy CSC defense that was looking to dismantle any type of attack MNU was able to form.

The first half would play to a 0-0 draw. Both teams headed into halftime looking for ways to break into the game. It took the Pioneers just ten minutes to break the deadlock and go up 1-0 early in the first half. Junior forward Taryn McClendon found midfielder Steffi Krohn who found space just outside the 18 yard box. Krohn fired a shot from 25 yards out, beating the CSC goalkeeper and putting the Pioneers up 1-0.

Just a minuted later, the Pioneers would have a goal called offside after forward Denise Dantzler found herself inside the box and tucked the ball away past the CSC goalkeeper, however the linesman ruled Dantzler offside. Krohn's goal would prove to be the game winner as the MNU defense and goalkeeper recorded a clean sheet to hold onto the win for the Pioneers.

The Pioneers are 10-4-1 (6-1 Heart). The next game is Saturday at first-year program Evangel (0-14, 0-8) at 5:00.
