Randall Gets Career High in Victory Over Culver

Justin Randall put up a career-high 24 points and Nate Launius just missed a triple double in MNU's 88-77 victory over Culver-Stockton on Saturday. It was MNU's 3rd straight win and the first regular-season victory over Culver since the 11-12 season. After 11 minutes of play, Culver was able to earn an 8-point lead, but MNU dominated the rest of the half. A 17-3 run turned a 7-point deficit into a 7-point lead in just 3 and a half minutes. Jordan Whelan scored 7 in that stretch as MNU took a 5-point lead into the break. In the second half, Culver came out strong and cut the lead down to 1, but the Pioneers responded with a 17-6 stretch over 4 minutes to take a 12-point lead. Culver cut the deficit to 4 with 5 minutes left, but MNU held off the Wildcats and won by 11.

Justin Randall had 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Nate Launius had 21 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 blocks. Jordan Whelan added 19 points on 7-11 shooting off the bench. Hudson Welty had 6 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Cale Brubaker went 2-4 from beyond the arc for 6 points and a game-high 9 rebounds. And Gabriel Jordan had 9 points and 8 rebounds.

MNU is 6-14 (5-6 HAAC). The next game is Saturday at Missouri Valley (14-7, 8-3) at 4:00.
