Sprew Leads MNU Past #24 Lindsey Wilson

Daria Sprew shot 75% from the floor and recorded a double double in MNU's 69-64 victory at #24 Lindsey Wilson on Saturday. Neither team could get going offensive early on, and MNU led 12-9 after 9 minutes of play. A 6-point burst by Sprew, Kyleesha Weston, and Martyna Kudziela gave the Pioneers a 7-point lead, but the Blue Raiders came back and tied the game with 4:30 left in the half. MNU closed the half strongly and took a 5-point lead into the locker room. The Pioneers started the second half with a run and had a 10-point lead after 4 minutes of play, but LWC went on a 12-2 run to tie the game. The rest of the game was back-and-forth with neither team taking more than a 2-possession lead. With 2 minutes left and a 1-point MNU lead, Tristin Wicks grabbed an offensive rebound and hit a layup. Daria Sprew did the same thing on the next possession to give the Pioneers a 5-point lead with just over a minute to play. MNU hit their free throws down the stretch to stretch the lead to 8, and LWC hit a 3 at the buzzer to account for the 5-point spread.

Daria Sprew was 9-12 from the floor for 21 points and 13 rebounds. Kyleesha Weston had 11 points, 4 assists, and a career-high 6 steals. And Tristin Wicks, Megan Balcom, and Jasmine Webb had 10 points apiece.

MNU is 10-4 (3-0 HAAC). The next game is Thursday at home vs. Evangel (3-6, 2-0) at 5:30.
