Pioneers Finish Strong in Victory Over Avila

A competitive game turned into an 18-point victory as MNU pulled away late on Thursday. After 13 minutes of play, the Pioneers led by 10 at 22-12, but the Eagles stayed with the Pioneers and kept the deficit between 7 and 10 through halftime and deep into the second half. With 6:37 left, Avila trimmed the MNU lead to 5 before the Pioneers dominted the rest of the game. The defense locked down and Daria Sprew scored 5 of MNU's next 7 points to spark a 12-0 run. Avila went scoreless for 5 minutes while the Pioneers pulled away for a 59-41 victory. The turnover 22-8 margin was the key.
