Pioneer Rally Comes Up Just Short

The Pioneers erased a 16-point deficit, but could not complete the comeback in a 75-68 loss vs. Central Methodist on Saturday. The Eagles were hot in the first half, building a 16-point lead with 2 minutes remaining, but MNU closed the period with a 6-1 run to close the gap to 12. CMU led by 14 early in the second half when the Pioneers started their run. An 11-0 run closed the gap to 3, and the teams traded buckets for the next few minutes until MNU finally tied the score with 7 minutes remaining. CMU responded with a 10-2 run to regain control of the game, but 3-pointers from Nate Launius and Gabriel Jordan cut the deficit to 2. The Eagles hit enough free throws down the stretch to hold off the Pioneers, and MNU suffered its 6th straight defeat.

Nate Launius led all scorers with 21 points and 4 assists. Cale Brubaker recorded a game-high 7 assists. Gabriel Jordan put up 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. Justin Randall added 13 points and 3 blocks. And Hudson Welty had 11 points off the bench.

MNU is 3-13 (2-5 HAAC). The next game is Thursday at home vs. Avila (9-8, 3-4) at 7:30.
