MNU dropped its 5 straight in an 88-75 loss at Peru State on Thursday. Peru started the game with an 11-2 run and never looked back. After 10 minutes, the lead was 31-11 and the Pioneers trailed by 22 at halftime. In the second half the Pioneers chipped away at the lead, outscoring Peru 22-8 over an 8 minute stretch to get within 7. The Bobcats used a 10-3 run to get a comfortable lead, and hit their free throws down the stretch to win by 13.
Jordan Whelan recorded a career-high 25 points while converting 17 of 20 free throw attempts. It was the most MNU free throws since Rustin Dowd had 16 in 2011.
Nate Launius had 16 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. And
Justin Randall had 11 points and 9 rebounds.
MNU is 3-12 (2-4 HAAC). The next game is Saturday at home vs. Central Methodist (11-5, 3-3) at 4:00.
